The year is 2003. I’d been playing Magic for a year or so, and I’d read about the upcoming 10th Anniversary celebration on magicthegathering.com. Our crew of four piled into a car and made the short trip to Comix Universe in Hanover, PA (still there today) for the pre-release. It was the debut of the new card frame, and it would be the first time I opened white bordered cards in my very short Magic career.

I would venture to bet if you’re “of the era” like I am, you probably sorted your white bordered cards separately from the rest of your black bordered cards. My Basic Lands, literally twenty years later and stashed in old Fat Pack boxes rarely opened, are still separated between black and white borders.
